WHAT IS CPD ?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is:‘ a range of learning activities through which health professionals maintain and develop throughout their career to ensure that they retain their capacity to practice safely, effectively, and legally within their evolving scope of practice’.
(Allied Health Professions Project, 2003, p.9)

Individual CPD is supported by using CPD Portfolio as documentation of all formal and informal learning and a record of the personal development plan. In many countries, CPD is a legal requirement needed for maintaining registration or licensure as a nurse or a midwife.
